Our Psychotherapy Approach
At Potential 22 Psychotherapy, we're all about feelings and connections. Ever feel sad, anxious, or just plain confused? You're not alone, and we're here to help.
We're not your typical therapists. We like to get hands-on and help you feel things in the moment. It's called experiential therapy. With us, you'll explore your emotions, how you connect with others, and what makes you feel safe and loved.
We use various methods but mainly what's called EFT and IFS. EFT helps couples feel closer and more understood. IFS is like a journey inside yourself, where you learn to understand and be kind to all your different needs and wants.
We also use psychodynamic theory. This means we're curious about why you feel the way you do, and we want to understand how your past and present affect each other.
Plus, we see you as part of a bigger picture. We think about how your family, friends, and environment all play a part in how you feel. So, whether you're coming alone or with your partner, we've got your back.
This is our simple process:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please check our service pages for more questions and answers specific to each discipline.
Do you offer therapy in person or virtually?
We offer both. If you're located in Toronto, you can see us in person at 692 Euclid Ave, near the corner of Bathurst St and Bloor St W.
Is there parking or transit nearby if I chose to have sessions in person?
Absolutely. There is one Green P parking lot right next to our building. There is also up to 1 hour free street parking on side streets as well as on Euclid Ave itself. There is another Green P within short walking distance and more paid parking spaces on Bloor St W. Our location is also very easily accessible from the Bathurst TTC station, with only a 3-minute walk.
Does my child have to come in person or do you offer virtual child therapy?
We have spoken with our child therapists and agreed that for children ages 4-11 years old, it's very difficult to have virtual therapy. Hence, for this age group we only offer in person therapy so that your child can play and talk. It's much more fun!
What's your cancellation policy?
We have a 48-hour cancellation policy and charge 50% of the session if there is a no show or a late cancellation. However, we do make exceptions for emergencies and special medical conditions that make scheduling difficult.
Do you offer affordable or low cost therapy?
Absolutely! It is always okay to ask. Our fees are standard and in line with average costs for psychotherapy. We are neither over nor underpriced. If you are not covered by private insurance and need to pay out of pocket, we always encourage you to inquire, communicate to us what is feasible for you and we'll do our best to match you with a therapist who has availability. If we can't offer availability right away, we will put you on our waiting list and contact you as soon as there's an opening.
Are your services covered by OHIP or do you offer direct billing to my insurance?
Currently, psychotherapy or dietetics is not covered by OHIP and we do not offer direct billing to your insurance. However, most private insurances have coverage for psychotherapy or dietetics services in their extended benefits package. As soon as your session is finished and you've settled the payment, we will send you a receipt which you can immediately forward to your insurance. Please ensure that you contact your insurer or check your benefits package before you book a session to ensure that you are covered and to find out what your coverage exactly is. Specifically, make sure that your insurer covers RP's or RD's.
